11 February 2017 – Associate Professor Dimosthenis Sarigiannis talks about environmental pollution caused by industrial activities and its implications on public health; nearly 250.000 sites in 33 countries across Europe have been identified to be potentially contaminated by industrial activities. The European Network for Industrially Contaminated Sites and Health (ICSHNet), a COST initiative, aims to develop a common European framework for research and response on environmental health issues in industrially contaminated sites, and establish a European network of experts and institutions involved in assessing the health impacts and/or managing remediation and response. The Environmental Engineering Laboratory of the Aristotle University hosted the 3rd ICSHNet Plenary Conference & 1st International Training School on 6-10 February 2017 in Thessaloniki.
